5 things we'd love to see in the Apple iPhone 7

It's more than likely that Apple will release a hotly-anticipated successor to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in 2015.

Following Apple's release tradition, the 2015 iPhone will likely be called the 6S and unveiled towards the end of September.

But some people have recently suggested that Apple has considered dropping the 'S' suffix, as this is starting to have negative connotations. Similarly, rumours are already circulating around the phone's release date, with some suggesting we could see a new phone as early as spring 2015.

In that case, in the spirit of Christmas, we've created a list of features we'd love to see in the next iPhone. Do you agree?

1. Larger battery
Instead of focusing on making the phone as thin as possible, it would be great to see Apple make the device with half a millimeter added depth to encompass a larger battery.

It would be amazing if the iPhone battery could last a week without needing to be charged - but more realistically, a battery that lasts for two or three days while still accommodating everyday use would be great as well.

This is is a major feature that consumers are calling for, but that very few phone manufacturers appear to be adapting to.

2. Wireless charging
Apple's lightning charger is great, but it's not as futuristic as wireless charging.

Nothing is easier than dropping your phone onto a charging pad without fumbling around with cables and plugs.

Apple has included wireless charging in its forthcoming Apple Watch, so they're clearly experimenting with the technology - let's hope it filters through to their other devices.

3. Improved camera
The iPhone 6's camera is great, the iPhone 6 Plus camera is even better - but it's rumoured that Apple on planning to include a new and improved snapper in their next phone.

John Gruber, an analyst with an excellent track record, has suggested that the next iPhone will represent the biggest camera jump in the history of the iPhone.

Gruber claims that the iPhone 7 will include a new two-lens system which will capture "DSLR-quality imagery".

4. Smaller screen
We know everyone complained about the iPhone 5's small screen compared to that of its larger Android rivals, but the iPhone 6 can be a bit unwieldy, especially for those with small hands.

iPhone Screen Size

Luckily it seems Apple have noticed, and it's rumoured that they're planning on creating a phone with a 4-inch screen.

Large phone lovers need not worry though, it's likely the smaller phone will be released alongside its 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch counterparts.

5. Improved grip and scratch-proof casing
Aluminium is lightweight and it looks lovely, but we don't think it's the best material to make a phone out of.

One of the main problems is how easily it can be scratched, causing most people to use phone cases which ruin Jony Ive's wonderful design.

We'd love to see a harder material used, one that can be thrown into a bag or coat pocket without the worry of it being scratched.

Aluminium is also very slippery, we'd like to hold our phone without the constant fear of its imminent meeting with the pavement.

Is there anything you think we missed from our wishlist? Let us know what you'd like to see in the comments below...
